Meaning, "Beautiful Horizon", Belo Horizonte is the capital of the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Approximately 2.4 million Brazilians inhabit the city, living and working amidst its mix of classical and modern architecture. Life in the city is lively, with good food and music calling for attention at every corner. German, Italian, French, Japanese and Portuguese influence are present everywhere and it is not difficult to purchase a good fondue pot or a fresh-baked pizza. Stylishly dressed individuals can be seen all around, chatting on cell phones and speeding bye in Fiat, Pugueot, Chevrolet, VW, and Ford automobiles.
The city is internationally recognized for its progress in urban revitalization and food security, and in 1990, was identified as having the best quality of life amongst all cities in South America. 



"BH", as it is commonly known in Brazil, is a major international economic hub that serves as a prime arena for mining, agricultural, automotive, and technology oriented businesses. 

The country of Brazil is the largest country in South America and the only Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas. Brazil is also identified to possess the 8th biggest economy in the world and contains the largest concentration of Japanese people outside of Japan.
